We Slay Monsters
We Slay Monsters blends classic roguelike dungeon crawling with a strategic, poker‑inspired card combat system. Each playable class—Wizard, Rogue, and Warrior—brings a unique deck of cards that guides your hero through dangerous halls and tight encounters.
Dungeons are designed for short, action‑packed bursts, typically taking 15–25 minutes per run. Your goal is to survive the dungeon’s trials, collect rewards, and press forward to new challenges.
The Academy For Dungeoneering is your persistent base. Rebuild and upgrade it over time using gold earned from completing quests for nearby towns. While individual heroes can die, the Academy endures—your lineage continues with fresh recruits who stand ready to face the next danger.
Gameplay centers on a poker‑style card system. The deck is built around six suits with face values from 1 to 9, expanding beyond traditional poker. Most hands from poker are valid here, but a three‑card flush is enough to unleash a powerful super attack. Each suit grants a distinct attack ability, adding strategic depth as you chain cards to execute combos and adapt to the dungeon’s threats.
A broad campaign pits you against the Institute of Evil, a rival school dedicated to training monstrous beasts and formidable bosses to threaten the world. Your ongoing campaigns shift into new battles as you push through the Institute’s defenses.
Expect a growing challenge as you progress: unlock and recruit from an ever‑expanding roster of foes—over 35 monsters with unique abilities—so each run presents fresh strategic choices and risks.
Permadeath means a hero may fall, but your Academy’s legacy persists. The influx of recruits keeps the adventure going, ensuring the fight continues run after run.
The game’s atmosphere is brought to life by composer Adam Chandler, whose soundtrack enriches every dungeon crawl. The full soundtrack is available as DLC, and purchasing the game with the soundtrack included saves you 10%.
Dive into a compact, replayable roguelike where strategic card play, persistent progression, and a roguelite attitude converge for fast, satisfying dungeon runs.
