Bounce 2 is a modern reimagining of the cult 1v1 “digital sport” that began as Bounce (1983), a clever twist on the classic Pong formula. Instead of being locked to a paddle that moves on a line, you control a full character that can move freely around the court—turning every rally into a fast, physical contest of positioning, timing, and creativity.
Physics-first control sits at the heart of Bounce 2. You guide your character with responsive, emergent interactions built around a simple but powerful two-collider setup: one collider for the body and one for a limb. This keeps physics calculations quick and precise while still feeling robust. Use the right stick for direct limb control—swing your arm when grounded, and in the air rotate the stick to kick and steer with your leg. Every jump, dash, kick, and save becomes a skill expression, not a scripted animation.
Key game modes
- Bounce Mode: A pure skill test with tug-of-war scoring instead of points. Each goal pushes a slider toward your opponent’s side; evenly matched players create longer, tenser matches.
- Brick Mode: Inspired by brick breakers. Break through a wall of bricks to score. If your opponent scores past your wall, it regenerates. Rounds last about 2.5 minutes, ideal for quick competitive play.
- Party Mode: A rotating set of 15+ modified rounds chosen after each goal. Sprint through corridors, swim and dive in water variants, handle multi-ball chaos, or build a custom playlist of your favorite modifiers.
Online play is built to feel like local. Using a deterministic networking approach, player inputs are processed centrally with synchronized physics and gameplay, then each client renders visuals locally. The result is crisp, frame-accurate competition that stays responsive whether you’re playing nearby or across the world.
For competitive players, leaderboards are available while keeping the in-game interface clean and casual.
Retro presentation rounds out the experience with a carefully crafted CRT-style shader based on real professional monitor scans, plus adjustable display options (brightness, contrast, hue, saturation) and a motion-based separation effect that intensifies with speed. Bounce 2 even includes CRT calibration tools for players using analog setups, letting you align and scale the signal so the arena fits your screen perfectly.
