TENGAI

TENGAI is a fast, eccentric Japanese-style horizontal-scrolling shooter that debuted in arcades in 1996. Known as an evolved take on the “Psikyo shooter,” it delivers unpredictable run structure with randomly chosen stages, dramatic presentation, and aggressive enemy fire patterns—featuring the infamous tight, aimed bullets later recognized as “Psikyo Bullets.”

Choose from a cast of distinctive heroes, each bringing their own flair to the battlefield:
Miko (a rampaging shrine maiden), Junis (a blonde ninja girl), Tengai (a turbo monk), Sho (a vengeful saber), and Katana (a mech samurai).

Combat is built around classic arcade fundamentals with modern convenience. Collect “P” items to power up your attacks and add options to boost your firepower. Grab “B” items to stock bombs, which can clear enemy bullets and create an opening when the screen becomes overwhelming. Use your option shot to shred incoming threats and push through dense enemy waves. Don’t panic in close calls—your hit box is only the upper body, allowing tight dodges when you stay composed.

In Arcade Mode, you can select from 7 difficulty levels, including challenging HARD and VERY HARD settings for players who want a true skill test. The game supports extensive tuning, letting you adjust difficulty, lives (1–9), continues (0 to unlimited), and controls (including Shot, Auto Shot, and Bomb). You can also choose between display filter options, including a normal +2 style.

For competitive play, Score Attack offers a stricter ruleset with fixed difficulty and lives, designed for serious scoring runs. Track your performance with local rankings across all difficulties and characters, and aim higher with online rankings to prove yourself against players worldwide.
