Your fellow ranger, Jen, isn’t there. She headed out early to search a network of closed hiking trails for the missing, leaving behind only notes and a trail that leads off the main path. Following those clues, you relocate to meet her and push deeper into the remote parts of the national park. When you find Jen’s camp, the scene is devastating: gear scattered, a torn tent, and no sign of her. Time is against you—midday has given way to a shrinking window before nightfall.
